Hi, everybody. Let's take a look at the next question. Which of the following describes water soluble vitamins A. They are absorbed along with dietary fats in the small intestine B. They are stored in the body's fatty tissues and liver C. Any excess of these vitamins is typically excreted in the urine and d they are extremely toxic if taken in large quantities. Well, as we recall, there's water soluble and fat soluble vitamins. And if we remember the key distinction here in terms of the most sort of important point is that water soluble vitamins being vol water soluble can be excreted in your urine. So choice C is the one we want to describe water soluble volume vitamins. This is important because it means you don't have to worry about toxicity in the way you do with fat soluble vitamins because any excess you take in just comes out in urine. When we look at our other answer. Choices. Choice A, they are absorbed along with dietary fats in the small intestine that describes fat soluble vitamins, not water soluble. The water soluble vitamins are just absorbed directly into the bloodstream from the intestinal walls. They don't need to be carried along with fat from the diet. The way fat soluble vitamins do and choice B, they are stored in the body's fatty tissues and liver. Again, this is characteristic of the fat soluble vitamins. And that is why choice D is also characteristic of fat soluble. They're extremely toxic in large quantities because the body does not get rid of them. They can build up in the fatty tissues and liver. So if you're taking too much, you can build up more and more and more in those fatty tissues in the liver and cause toxicity. Whereas the water soluble volumes just can be excreted. So once again, our statement that describes water soluble vitamins is choice c any excess of these vitamins is typically excreted in the urine. See you in the next video.
