Hi, everyone. Let's take a look at this practice problem together. Jason noticed that when he had COVID, he lost his sense of smell and taste. The medical term for the complete loss of sense of smell is the answer. Options are a hyperopia. B hyposmia, see an area and D anosmia. So many people with COVID notice a loss in their smell and taste senses. What is it called when we have the complete loss of sense of smell. Option A hyperopia note that the suffix oia means vision and hyperopia is also known as far sightedness. So people can see distant objects clearly but nearby objects are blurry. Hyperopia is not the loss of smell. So option A is incorrect option. C anuria note that this has the suffix which means urine, anuria is the failure of the kidney to produce urine. So option C is also incorrect. Now, both options B and D and in snia and the suffix Osmer means odor or smell. Now, Jason noticed a complete loss of smell which is anosmia, hyposmia is the decreased sense of smell. So again, hyposmia is decreased sense of smell and anosmia is the complete loss of smell. So that means the correct answer is option D anosmia. All right. Everyone. I hope you found this helpful and I'll see you soon for the next practice problem.
