Hey, everyone. Let's take a look at this question together. A male patient visits at the hospital with complaints of nocturia. Following an examination, the doctor concludes that he has benign prosthetic hyperplasia or BPH. Using this information, estimate the patient's age as a reproductive biology student. Is it answer choice? A seven years old answer choice. B 14 years old answer choice. C 28 years old or answer choice. D 56 years old. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure out which of the following answer choices is the correct age of this male patient. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about what nocturia is and how it relates to benign prosthetic hyperplasia to determine how old this patient is. And we can recall that nocturia refers to the frequent need to urinate during the night. And it is a symptom that is commonly associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH, which we know that benign prostatic hyperplasia refers to the enlargement of the prostate gland and it typically occurs in older men. Since the prostate slowly enlarged from birth until puberty, then it rapidly expands until age 30. And further enlargement of the prostate occurs after age 45. With benign prostatic hyperplasia being common in males over the age of 50. So looking at our answer choices, we can identify answer choice. D 56 years old as the correct answer. Since 56 years old is an age where benign prostatic hyperplasia is common to appear. And all other answer choices are incorrect. Since seven years, 14 years and 28 years old are ages where benign prostatic hyperplasia is extremely rare. So answer choice D is the only correct answer choice. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
