Video transcript

Everyone. Let's take a look at this question together which of the following is not involved in the processing of declarative memories. Is it answer choice. A the hippocampus. Answer choice B the entero Rhinal cortex, answer choice C the ponds or answer choice D the peri Rhino cortex. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure out which of the following answer choices is not involved in the processing of declarative memories. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about what declarative memories are and where they are processed to determine which of the following is not involved in the processing of those declarative memories. And we can recall that declarative memories which are memories for facts and events that can be consciously recalled and expressed are primarily processed in the medial temporal lobe of the brain, which that medial temporal lobe of the brain includes structures such as the hippocampus, the entorhinal cortex, the peri rhinal cortex and the parahippocampal cortex. So looking at our answer choices, we can identify answer choice. A hippocampus, answer choice, Bor Rhinocort and answer choice D peri cortex as locations that are involved in the processing of declarative memories, making them all incorrect. Since we are looking for something that is not involved in the processing of declarative memories, which is answer choice C the ponds since the ponds are not involved in the processing of declarative memories and instead are important for various functions such as respiratory control and sleep regulation. So answer choice C is the correct answer. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
