Hi, everyone. Let's take a look at this practice problem together. Which of the following is a common knee injury characterized by a tear in the cartilage lining, the joint. The answer options are A AC L tear, B MC L sprain C, meniscus tear and D patella tendinitis. Now recall in the knee, the cartilage functions to absorb shock and provides cushion. Now remember it is flexible but only to a certain degree. So what cartilage can have a tear in it in the knee joint? Option D patella tendinitis, this is injury to the patella tendon. Remember the patella tendon connects the knee cap to the shin bone. This is not the cartilage. So we can eliminate option D. Now option A AC L stands for anterior cruciate ligament. And then option B MC L stands for the medial collateral ligament. So both A and B are ligaments. Remember that ligaments are fibrous connective tissue that connects two bones. So while both AC L and MC L are ligaments of the knee, they are not cartilage. So we can eliminate options A and B as well. So the correct answer is a meniscus tear. The meniscus is the cartilage. It is C shaped and it sits between the tibia and the femur sharp, sudden side to side or rotational movements can cause the tears in it. So the correct answer is option. C meniscus tear. All right, everyone. I hope you found this helpful and I'll see you soon for the next practice problem.
