Welcome back, everybody. Let's look at our next question. Which of the following organelles is abundant in brown adipose tissues that generate heat from lipid fuels. A ribosomes, B, mitochondria, C and depos mic reticulum or D lysosome. So we're thinking about brown adipose tissue or brown fat that generates heat from lipid fuels. If we can't remember off the top of our heads, which organelle this would be, think about which organelle would or could be used to generate heat from a lipid fuel. So you think about something that generates energy heat being a form of energy and that will lead us to choice B mitochondria. Our little energy producing factories in the cell. Brown fat is found mainly in babies who have not developed the ability to shiver to generate heat. So they have a layer of brown fat uh on their backs. And in this brown fat, you have abundant mitochondria, as our question says, and instead of their usual function of generating A T P, they generate heat from the lipid fuels instead of A T P. And again, that's used in babies as an adaptation since they're not able to generate heat by shivering there's small amounts found in adults, um but not specific amounts. So we'll look briefly at our other answer. Choices. Uh choice a ribosomes, obviously not something that generates heat. They make up R R N A or, excuse me, they're made up of our R N A and protein and are the site of protein synthesis. So, not what we're looking for. So, we'll cross that off. So I see the endoplasm reticulum and the endoplasm reticulum uh has the rough er that's has ribosomes embedded in it. So it's the site of the protein synthesis. Well, I already called said that ribosome for the site of protein synthesis uh but this contains the ribosomes. So I'll put on ribosomes, also the site of lipid metabolism and several other functions but not where and heat is being generated from lipid fuels. So we'll cross that off. And then finally lyses the small vesicles that contain enzymes that can digest proteins but not the little energy producers or heat producers that mitochondria are. So we'll go ahead and eliminate choice D lyo and we will go ahead and remind ourselves that our organelles that are abundant in brown adipose tissue and generate heat from lipid fuels or choice B mitochondria. See you in the next video.
