Hello everyone. Today we have the following problem. Give the name of the following alcohol A two methyl, four Piny B 14 dimethyl, four butanol C four methyl, two pinol or D 13 dimethyl one butanol. So looking at the structure, we must automatically make note that the alcohol is the priority group in this compound. Moreover, when we name our parent chain, which is the starting step of all of these naming questions, we will start by giving the alcohol the lowest number. So we will start from left and work our way across. We have 1234. We can either go to the right or down. Either one is the same as it, both, they both give us one additional carbon. So our apparent name is pent and the because we have an alcohol we have in tal, so we can eliminate answer choices B and D from that alone. Now, we also note that we have an alcohol group on carbon too. So that will be stated as because we have an alcohol and carbon too, we will have two pent all as the name. So that leaves us with trace C but let's con, let's finish this. We see that we have substituents that we have to, um, we have to name and number and we have um, a methyl on carbon four giving us four methyl. And if we arrange this name in alphabetical order, we would get answer to C which is four methyl, two peny as our answer overall, I hope this helped. And until next time.
