Video transcript

Hey everyone, we're asked to provide the structure of four ethyl two octane. All looking at our suffix, we have the suffix of O. L. Which tells us that we have an O. H. Group At carbon # two. Since we have that too listed prior to our oct in all. And that prefix of oct tells us that we have an eight carbon chain, which means this is our longest chain, which can also be called our parent chain. Now looking at four ethel, this tells us we have a substitute quint at the fourth carbon. So we have a two carbon chain At carbon # four. Now let's go ahead and draw this out first, we can draw out our parent chain which is the eight carbon chain. So we have eight carbons and at carbon number two we have an O. H group. Next at carbon number four. We will draw out the ethyl group which has two carbons and this is going to be our final structure for four ethyl two octane. All. Now, I hope that made sense. And let us know if you have any questions
