Hey everyone, we're asked to provide the name for the following al to hide or ketone. Looking at the structure, we can see that our carbondale group is located right here and we see that it has a structure of our C O R. Our being our alcohol groups and this as we've learned is a ketone. Now when we name ketones we know that our suffix is going to be changed to O N E. Now let's go ahead and determine our longest carbon chain. In order to do so we have to have our ketone be the smallest number possible. So we would have to number this from right to left, starting with 123-456-78. So our longest carbon chain is going to be eight carbons. So this tells us that we're going to have that prefix of oct. Now let's go ahead and write out our base name. So since we have an eight carbon chain we'll have octane in. Since we have that ketone will have the ending of O N E. And to denote the carbon number of our Ketone, we will add a number 3-40sane on. Now let's go ahead and look at our substitue Ints, Looking at carbon # six, it looks like we have a methyl group. So when we name our ketone, we're going to denote that methyl group by adding a six dash metal dash three octane on and this is going to be our final name for our ketone. Now I hope that made sense. And let us know if you have any questions
