All right. Hello everyone. So this question is asking us to draw the product or products of the reaction shown below. And here we have two methyl and prop propane, one amine reacting with pino acid. Now recall first and foremost that there are two main reactions to consider when it comes to a means, right. The first possibility is an acid base reaction between an amine and a strong acid like HCL. For example, when it comes to drawing out the products of an acid base reaction, that's going to be a salt or ions. This is because of the exchange of a proton from the acid to the base. Now, on the other hand, we can talk about a condensation reaction that occurs typically between an amine and a carboxylic acid. In this particular case, the reaction in question is an example of condensation and our products are going to be an amide and water. This is because the other reagent alongside the amine here is a carboxylic acid. So essentially the amide is produced after the amino group that is the nitrogen of the amine replaces the hydroxy group attached to the carbo of the carboxylic acid. If you recall, the carbonel is this carbon double bonded to oxygen present in the carboxylic acid functional group. So after the hydroxy group is removed from the car bal the hydrogen that's attached to the nitrogen of the amine is also subsequently removed. Those two things combine and they create water. So first, I'm going to go ahead and start by drawing out the carbon chain of the carboxylic acid. So now I have the carbonyl carbon, but now I'm going to connect nitrogen to the carbonyl carbon and nitrogen is also going to have however many R groups or carbon chains were attached to it in the beginning. So I'm just going to redraw those. This gives us an iso butyl and prop pentane amide with water as a by-product, combining the hydroxy group of the carboxylic acid with the hydrogen from nitrogen in the beginning and there you have it. And so with that being said, thank you so very much for watching. And I hope you found this helpful.
