Welcome back everyone to another video. What is the expected product for the reaction below? We have to classify the given starting material. And we want to understand that it is a ketone since it contains Carboni with two alky groups bonded to it, those are cyclops substi. And we're performing a reduction reaction which corresponds to an increase in carbon hydro bonds or basically a decrease in carbon hetero atom bonds such as oxygen. Now, there are two ways to solve this problem. One way is to know the concept of reduction. And the second way is to basically know that whenever we reduce ketones, they become secondary alcohols. First of all, what we're going to do is simply redraw the starting structure and then we will manipulate that structure to see how we can actually get the final product. As we know reduction is a decrease in carbon hetero atom bonds. So we are removing the pi bond between carbon and oxygen and we're introducing hydrogen to our carbon, an increase in carbon hydrogen bonds, right. So we have performed the two steps and then we simply want to add hydrogen to oxygen which comes from a solvent such as methanol, right? And this is how we have arrived at the final structure for this problem. We essentially took Carbel and we converted it into an alcohol group, specifically a secondary alcohol. Thank you for watching.
