Hi, everybody. Let's take a look at this practice problem together, which of the following genetic diseases can be diagnosed through stereotyping. Now, what is Kariya typing? Recall that Caro typing is a test and using microscope and photography, you examine abnormalities in chromosome size shape and or numbers therefore carry a typing with diagnosed diseases with obvious abnormal chromosomes. So let's take a look at the options. We've got B Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Now, this is an X linked genetic disorder of progressive muscular weakness. It's caused by a mutation in the D M D gene and wouldn't be detected via gross observation with stereotyping. So B is not the correct answer. Then we've got C Huntington's disease. This is another disease caused by an abnormal mutation. This time, it's in the H T T gene. So again, it wouldn't be observed with Kariya typing. So C is not the correct answer. Then we've got option d sickle cell anemia. This is again, a disease caused by a gene mutation. This one occurs in the H B B gene like Duchenne and Huntington's. The mutation is too small for Kariya typing to be able to observe the abnormality. So D is also not correct, the correct answers. Option A Down Syndrome. It's a genetic disorder caused by a person having an extra copy of chromosome 21. Therefore, Kerry A typing would be able to observe that abnormality. So A is the correct answer. All right, everyone. I hope you found this helpful and I'll see you soon for the next practice problem.
