welcome back everyone in this example we need to draw the bond line structure for the aiming die proposal, aiming so recall that aiming is a sort of group in organic molecules where we want to think of nitrogen and it's bonding preference which is to be bonded to three atoms with its one lone pair on itself. Now out of these three atoms we would have a total of an example where we have one R group and two bonds to hydrogen where this one R group bonded to this nitrogen means we have a primary aiming. We can also have an aiming group where we have again a lone pair with three bonds to nitrogen. Where out of these three bonds we have to our group so R one and R. Two and then just a third bond to hydrogen. This categorizes as a secondary aiming and then as you can guess a tertiary aiming is where we would have three R groups, R one, R two and R three in the place of this third hydrogen here. So the more our groups the higher degree of our aiming and in this case we can figure out our groups by looking at the rest of the name given to us in the prompt which is die probable. So this will tell us what carbon chain our our group consists of or how many are groups are carbon chain is made up of because we call that our groups are just these carbon chains on our structure. So what we should see is that we have this prefix die and then propel and so die. We want to tell you wanna recall tells us we have two times are sort of group here which is in this case not a group, but rather the characterization of our chain of our structure being proposal, recall that proposal or prop corresponds to the meaning of three carbons and then this ending Y el tells us that we have an alcohol group where we want to recall that alcohol groups are just arrangements of carbons bonded to hydrogen in a group. And so combining these gives us proposal. And so because we have two times these types of groups here, recall that this means we have the prefix di So we would have the combination of let's make some room here die plus proposal. So that would be di proposal as a whole. Let's make this clear that's A D. Now because we stated we have two of these deplorable groups on our structure. This tells us that we have to our groups Or two carbon chains of these proposal groups. So as a result, what we should have is our first pro bowl group which is three carbons. So recall that each corner represents a carbon, this is two carbons and then we have three carbons here. This is our first our group. So now we can add in our nitrogen there with its lone pair, its bond to hydrogen and now for its third bond we want to go ahead and include our second alcohol group or second purple group, which again is another three carbon chain. So we have two carbons and now we have our third carbon when we draw in this next line and so this completes it. We have our first our group, we have our second R. Group and then we have our aiming group and this entire drawn instructor is going to be our final answer as our bond line structure for di proposal aiming. So what's highlighted in yellow here is our final answer. I hope everything I reviewed was clear. If you have any questions, leave them down below and I'll see everyone in the next practice video.
