Video transcript

Hey, everyone. Let's take a look at this question together. Which of the following is characterized by progressive beta cell dysfunction contributing to decreased insulin effectiveness. Is it answer choice. A type one diabetes, answer choice B type two diabetes, answer choice C hypoglycemia or answer choice D hypothyroidism. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure out which of the following answer choices is characterized by progressive beta cell dysfunction contributing to decreased insulin effectiveness. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about both progressive beta cell dysfunction and decreased insulin effectiveness. Which we note that when we are talking about progressive beta cell dysfunction, we are talking about ad decreased ability of the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin. And a decrease in insulin effectiveness refers to insulin resistance which that insulin resistance refers to a situation in which these cells do not respond to insulin effectively. And the condition involving both progressive beta cell dysfunction and a decrease in insulin effectiveness is type two diabetes. Since type two diabetes is characterized by insulin resistance where the body cells do not respond to insulin effectively and progressive beta cell dysfunction leading to that decreased ability of the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin. Which means that answer choice B type two diabetes is the correct answer. And all other answer choices are incorrect. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
