Hi everyone here we have a question asking us to name the following compound and identify its organic functional group. So first we're going to number our longest carbon chain. So we have one two 34 five 678. So that is octo. Now we need to identify if it's an al cane and al keen or an AL kind if we remember correctly. Al canes have only single bonds. Al keens have double bonds And all kinds have at least one triple bond. We have a double bond here so it is going to be an alkaline which means our prefix is going to end in in. So so far we have octane as our base name and now we need to place our double bond and it is at carbon too. So so far we have two octane. Now we need to identify our groups. So here we have a methyl group. Here we have an ethyl group and that's because it has two carbons. And here we have another methyl group. So we have meth als at C and C six. And we have an ethel at C5. And we want to list these alphabetically. So we have five ethel And then 4, 6, there's two of them. So it's going to be dimethyl And then our base name. So two octane. So it's organic functional group is an al keen and its name is five ethyl 46 dime ethyl two octane. Thank you for watching. Bye
