Video transcript

Hello, everyone. Today, we have the following problem, provide the structure of an alkane with the name for ethyl, for methyl heptane. So we want to identify a login's carbon chain in this molecule. And so we go to the parent chain, which is heptane, which lets us know that we have a seven carbon parent chain. Then we look at the substituents, we see that we have a four ethyl and a four meth. We have a four ethyl and a four methyl. This also know that on the fourth carbon, there are two substituents. So if we start numbering from left to right, starting from one and we, our way over on carbon four, we must include a methyl and then we must include an ethyl group, which is with the methyl group being just one carbon. And then we draw the two carbon group as the ethyl. And so with that, we have solved the problem overall, I hope this helped. And until next time.
