Hello everyone. Today we have the following problem. Draw the structure for ethyl heptane. So the first step is to identify the parent chain or the longest continuous carbon chain. And we see that it is heptane. So we draw a seven carbon structure that is an alkane and we can number from left to right, starting with one and working our way across to get to seven carbons. And then we have to draw the substituents that are available. So we see there is a four ethyl, meaning that on carbon four, there is an ethyl group as the following.
