Video transcript

Hey everyone were asked which of the following illustrates sulfide a sulfur atom with two negative charges. Now, when we look at our periodic table, we see that sulfur atomic number is 16. So this means that we have 16 protons since our atomic number tells us the number of protons we have Now the number of electrons is going to be the number of protons minus the charge. So, plugging in these values, we have 16 -2. So this means that we have 18 electrons. Looking at our answer choices, we can see that A tells us we have 16 protons and electrons. B. Is telling us that we have 18 protons and 18 electrons. C. Is telling us that we have 18 protons and 16 electrons and D. Is telling us we have 16 protons and 16 electrons. Now comparing this to what we calculated and determined, it looks like answer choice A is our best answer. Now, I hope that made sense. And let us know if you have any questions.
