A supersaturated solution of sucrose (C12H22O11) is made by dissolving sucrose in hot water and slowly letting the solution cool to room temperature. After a long time, the excess sucrose crystallizes out of the solution. Indicate whether each of the following statements is true or false: (b) After the excess sucrose has crystallized out, the system is now unstable and is not in equilibrium.

Hello everyone today. We are being given some statements then asked to solve the following problem. It says consider a super saturated solution of potassium nitrate. The solution was allowed to cool to room temperature and as a result, the excess potassium nitrate precipitated out, determined if the following statement is true or false. The solution becomes saturated after the excess potassium nitrate precipitated out. This statement is actually going to be true. So the question says that when we have our excess we have our excess saw you that precipitates out it causes a cooling effect at room temperature. We'll just say room temp. And so this is already indicative that the maximum amount of solute is already dissolved and therefore that indicates that we are dealing with a saturated solution. So our answer overall is true.
