Video transcript

Hello everyone today we are being asked the following question identify which of the following attractive forces is exhibited only between a nearby small highly electro negative atom and a hydrogen atom attached to a highly electro negative atom. So this is representative of what is known as hydrogen bonding. So it said for one of these molecules, we have a nearby small highly electro negative atom. And if we go according to our periodic trends in the periodic table, this can be a flooring. It's very highly electro negative and it's attached to a hydrogen atom and hydrogen atom that's attached to a highly electro negative atom, which is what we drew. And the nearby small highly electro negative atom would be this flooring here. So this flooring is very electro negative. And so when you have this situation this can form a bond known as a hydrogen bond. And it occurs when hydrogen is attached to florin, oxygen or nitrogen. And so with that said, we can mark B as the best answer answer choice A is incorrect because that just applies to metallic substances. We could say C. Is incorrect because that's generally exhibited by polar molecules and D can be incorrect because this only occurs between ions. And so with that we've answered the question overall, I do hope this helped. And until next time
