Hi, everybody. Let's look at our next question. Cholesterol is an important lipid present in animal based foods such as meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products and is also produced in the liver. Cholesterol is essential for various cellular processes, including the production of hormones, vitamin D synthesis and the formation of cell membranes. Which of the following statements is correct regarding the excretion of cholesterol from the body. A cholesterol is primarily excreted through the kidneys. B cholesterol is eliminated through sweat glands in the skin. C cholesterol is excreted through the lungs during respiration or D cholesterol is excreted through the liver into bio and eliminated in feces. And cholesterol has only one way of being excreted from the body. And that is choice D. It is excreted through the liver into bio, which contains cholesterol and then eliminated in P CS. Our other answer choices are all incorrect because again, there's only one way that the body can get rid of cholesterol. The vial contains cholesterol and is of course released into the intestines for digestion. So the liver produces the cholesterol and then excretes it into bio and then the remains of all the food waste including that cholesterol is excreted from the body in feces. Besides excretion, cholesterol can have other fates. There's only one way to excrete it but not all of it is just excreted. It can be used as our question mentions for things like synthesizing hormones or vitamin D and being built into cell membranes. It can be transported in the blood by lipo proteins such as LDL and HDL and it can be recycled, it can be reabsorbed and put back into circulation. But in terms of being excreted from the body, just one route choice d excreted through the liver into the bile and then eliminated in feces. See you in the next video.
