Hi, everybody. Welcome back. Here's our next question. Which nutrients listed below serve as immediate sources of energy. A glucose, B, cholesterol, C amino acids or D vitamins and minerals. But this one is pretty straightforward. Hopefully, we recall that choice. A glucose is an immediate source of energy. It's a simple sugar and is a primary and immediate is our question asked source of energy because it can enter directly into those metabolic pathways that produce a TP. When we look at our other answer choices, cholesterol does provide very key roles in the body. But these are mostly structural or regulatory rules. It's not used as an energy source. So for structural roles, it's used to as a component of cell membranes, regulatory. It's used in the synthesis of hormones and of vitamin D. So key molecule but not used as an energy source. So that's why choice B is not correct to C amino acids. We recall that those are those building blocks of proteins. So not generally used as an energy source. Although in periods of fasting or intense exercise, if glycogen stores are depleted and glycogen is of course, that starch storage and that can be broken down into glucose. It can be, proteins can be broken down to provide energy to the body in the process of gluconeogenesis. But this is not an immediate source of energy. This is this backup path in times of deprivation. So that's why choice C is not correct. And then finally, choice D vitamins and minerals. These are usually used as co factors or co enzymes. So they're important to energy generation because they often act in this way in metabolic processes, but they're not used as an energy source. So that's why choice D is not correct answer. So we'll cross that out and the nutrient, that's again, the nutrient that serves as immediate source of energy choice. A glucose. See you in the next video.
