Video transcript

Hey, everyone. Let's take a look at this question. Together. Proteoglycan are macro molecules that are made up of protein cores that are attached to. What is it? Answer choice. A collagen, answer choice B like Cos Aino Glycn, answer choice C thrombospondin or answer choice. D Elastin. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure out which of the following answer choices is attached to the protein cores that are found in proteoglycan. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about proteoglycan and what their protein cores are attached to. And we can recall that the proteoglycan consist of protein cores with long chains of carbohydrates attached to them, of which those long chains of carbohydrates attached to the protein cores of the proteoglycan are called glycosaminoglycans or gags. And those glycosaminoglycans are responsible for many functions of the proteoglycan such as maintaining tissue hydration and resisting compression. And we can see from the name of proteoglycan that the proo describes the protein core and the glycans comes from the glycosaminoglycans that are attached to the protein cores. So answer choice B glycosaminoglycans is the correct answer. And all other answer choices are incorrect. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
