Hi, everyone. Let's take a look at this practice problem together. May was riding her horse when it suddenly jumped, resulting in her falling and hitting the back of her head on a rock. When May woke up in the hospital, she said that she couldn't see anything. What lobe of the cerebrum would you expect to be damaged in May? The answer options are a occipital lobe, B, temporal lobe, C frontal lobe and D parietal lobe. So recall that the cerebrum has four lobes and each lobe has different functions. So let's start off with option D, the parietal lobe recall that this lobe is responsible for sensory processing and integration of senses from various parts of the body. It also helps with spatial awareness and self perception. So option D is incorrect. Option C the frontal lobe, the frontal lobe has many functions and just a few of those include voluntary movements, executive functions like self control and attention span and reasoning and learning. It is not involved with vision processing. So we can eliminate option C. Option B, the temporal lobe is involved in memory language and processing the sense of hearing. So option B is also incorrect. The correct answer is the occipital lobe. The occipital lobe is the visual processing area of the brain. So, if May, couldn't see anything, she damaged the occipital lobe of her brain, the correct answer is option, a occipital lobe. All right, everyone. I hope you found this helpful and I'll see you soon for the next practice problem.
