Hello everyone. Today, we have the following problem which element sulfur, chlorine tin or Germanium can be used as a semiconductor. So let's go based on the periodic table and these elements positions and determine what each of these can be classified as. So sulfur is considered a non metal as is chlorine. So automatically answer choices A and B are incorrect because these are non metals which are very bad conductors of electricity. So if we want to rate to C and D, we can note that tin is a metal. Well, Germanium is a non metal or Germanium is a semi metal, meaning that it has some characteristics of a metal and some characteristics of a non metal. And so if we look between these two, the metal is going to be a great conductor of electricity and the semi metal will be a semiconductor. And of course, the metal or the element that is a great conductor of electricity would not be considered useful as a semiconductor. And so that leaves our answer as germanium being the element that can be used as a semiconductor overall, I hope this helped. And until next time
