Reaction is not a redox reaction if neither the oxidation state of the reactant nor the oxidation state of the product changes, and that is very true because a redox reaction involves a transfer of electrons. So we're going to say it involves a transfer of electrons, and therefore when you have a chance for of electrons, this ultimately leads to changes in the oxidation state of these elements.
