Welcome back everyone. Our next question says which of the following options is accurate about the chemical composition of lymph A red blood cells and white blood cells. B plasma and platelets, c water proteins and immune cells or D oxygen carbon dioxide and red blood cells. Well, our answer here is going to be choice c water proteins and immune cells. Water will be the main component of lymph. But when it comes to the other components, the proteins and lymph include things like antibodies, enzymes and clotting factors. It does have immune cells. It also contains as well. You have electrolytes such as sodium potassium, calcium chloride that maintain the osmotic balance and the P H and keep cells functioning. Since they use those electrolytes for chemical signaling, they also contain metabolic waste products such as CO2 and cellular debris. And finally, there are also some lipids and lymph um that would be lipids that are absorbed from the lacteal glands in the small intestines. So that would include dietary fats and fat soluble vitamins. So all of these things go to make up the composition of lymph, which again is primarily water by weight and its makeup is similar to the composition of interstitial fluid, which makes sense since the purpose of the limbo system is to drain that interstitial fluid from the tissues, interstitial fluid. Is that fluid that surrounds the tissues? Let's look at our other answer choices to understand why they're not correct. And when we look at choice, a red blood cells and white blood cells, these would be components of blood, not lymph. So that's not a correct answer. And that's the same with choice B plasma and platelets and choice D oxygen, carbon dioxide and red blood cells. These are all components of blood rather than lymph.
