Choices is the region of the spleen responsible for destroying old erythrocytes. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about the different regions of the spleen and which region is responsible for destroying old erythrocytes. And we can recall that within the reticular tissue framework of the spleen are two distinct histological regions. And those two distinct histological regions are the red pulp and the white pulp, which the red pulp contains macrophages that are responsible for destroying old erythrocytes. Whereas the white pulp is responsible for filtering pathogens from the blood and the white pulp contains leukocytes. So looking at our answer choices, since we are looking for the region of the spleen responsible for destroying old erythrocytes, which we know is the red pulp answer choice A is the correct answer and all other answer choices are incorrect. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
