Video transcript

Hey, everyone. Let's take a look at this question together. A collection of sensory neuron cell bodies that are part of the peripheral nervous system is known as a ganglia. The most common type of sensory ganglion is which is it answer choice. A posterior root ganglion, answer choice B, glossopharyngeal ganglia, answer choice C vestibular ganglion or answer choice D geniculate ganglion. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure out which of the following answer choices is the name for the most common type of sensory ganglion. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about the different types of sensory ganglion to determine which of the following is the name for the most common type. And we can recall that the ganglion that are found in the dorsal root of spinal nerves are the most common type of sensory ganglion in the body and the ganglion that are in the dorsal root of spinal nerves, which are the most common type of sensory ganglion. Our answer choice, a posterior root ganglion, we is the correct answer. Since the posterior or dorsal root ganglion are the most common type of sensory ganglia and all other answer choices are incorrect. Since answer choices, BC and D are less common types. So answer choice A is the only correct answer choice. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.

Textbook Question

Maria is a 3-year-old who has been diagnosed with CIPA, or congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis. This disease results from a genetic mutation that causes essentially all general sensory neurons to not function properly. What types of sensations will Maria be unable to detect (be specific)? Predict what problems she might face from her condition.
