Dynamic content matched to the way today's students read, think, and learn brings content to life
  • Integrated within the narrative, interactives empower students to engage with concepts and take an active role in learning. REVEL's unique presentation of media as an intrinsic part of course content brings the hallmark features of Pearson's bestselling titles to life. REVEL's media interactives have been designed to be completed quickly, so students stay focused and on task.
  • End-of-chapter quizzing affords students opportunities to check their understanding before moving on.
  • REVEL’s fully mobile learning experience enables students to read and interact with course material on the devices they use, anywhere and anytime. Responsive design allows students to access REVEL on their tablet devices and smart phones, with content displayed clearly in both portrait and landscape view.
  • Highlighting, note taking, and a glossary let students read and study however they like. Educators can add notes for students, too, including reminders or study tips.

Superior assignability and tracking tools help educators make sure students are completing their reading and understanding core concepts
  • REVEL’s assignment calendar allows educators to indicate precisely which readings must be completed on which dates. This clear, detailed schedule helps students stay on task by eliminating any ambiguity as to which material will be covered during each class. And when students know what is expected of them, they're better motivated to keep up.
  • REVEL’s performance dashboard lets educators monitor class assignment completion as well as individual student achievement. It offers actionable information that helps educators intersect with their students in meaningful ways, such as points earned on quizzes and tests and time on task. Of particular note, the trending column reveals whether students' grades are improving or declining — which helps educators identify students who might need help to stay on track.

Engaging content and features help students understand the applications of theory
  • Coverage of topics of contemporary interest – such as healthcare, pornography, and the environment – appears throughout the text to foster student engagement with course concepts.
  • Cases for study and discussion illustrate how ethical theory and discussion can be specifically applied. Each case is open-ended and encourages students to examine their own ethics and views on how the situation should be handled. The application of theories to real world problems provides students with a solid foundation in understanding classic and contemporary moral problems. Material includes the exploration of the ethics of human experimentation, selling body parts on Craigslist and the ethical problems of bullying, cheating, and suicide.
  • Chapter 8, Setting Up a Moral System, contains guidelines on how to establish and apply a personal ethical theory to a range of specific moral issues, while also covering traditional ethical theories. This chapter directs students on how to ponder and develop their own ethical ideas, while educating them on traditional theories.
  • Eight closing modules are dedicated to Thiroux’s theory of Humanitarian Ethics and the application of this theory to moral problems. These appendices discuss moral problems in business, medicine, the environment, and more. Each appendix contains a general discussion of the problem and discussions of specific cases. These appendices contain the author's own views on how the various moral issues in the book might be dealt with and resolved. Appendices help students analyze and critically evaluate a series of ethical solutions and serves as a catalyst for exciting and profound discussion.

Pedagogical tools boost understanding and knowledge retention
  • Chapter-opening learning objectives provide students with a summary of complex issues and outline what they can expect to learn in the chapter, guiding students through the text and helping them to stay on task.
  • Chapter-ending summaries enable students to review the concepts discussed in the chapter.
  • Topically appropriate critical-thinking questions at the end of each chapter prompt students to analyze and apply what they’ve learned.
  • Exercises for Review, Discussion Questions, and Ethics Problems urge students to apply what they have learned to specific problems, such as taking a human life, lying, cheating, stealing, and breaking promises.
