What it is

Word Up! is a flexible student activity book series that develops grammatical and spelling skills, and promotes listening, speaking, reading and writing through a diverse range of open and closed activities.

Learners

Annotated texts: Each unit includes a sample text with pointers to text type structures and features.

Stimulating content: Each unit is based on engaging, level-appropriate topics to build spelling and grammar skills.

Additional focus on writing: Students create their own text in each unit, so the book also acts as a writing log.’

Educators

Structured content: Each book has 25 four-page units anchored to a clear learning scope and sequence.

Opportunities for differentiation: An icon system is used for differentiated learning.

Integrate into your literacy program: Improve grammar and spelling through integrating one unit of both grammar and spelling per week into your current literacy program or hand-pick units tailored to your needs.

In Word Up! Spelling students begin with practising sound and sound-letter relationships and build up to practising more complex spelling strategies. Annotated sample texts point out the features of each text type.

In Word Up! Grammar students practise grammatical skills in the context of sample texts that point out the structure and language features of each text type.

Primary educators are now able to create their own tailored Word Up! resource. Customising Word Up! is the perfect solution for you if you want to hand pick from a selection of 300 Australian Curriculum grammar and spelling units, either to focus on a particular area of the curriculum, or to create a composite year group resource- the options are endless!
