Hello everyone today. We are being asked what is or are the product or products for the following alc? In substitution. If only mono substitution occurs. So the first thing you want to do is you want to take note of the different positions where this bro mean or one of these brahmins can be added on this initial molecule, so it can only be added to one of these outer four carbon atoms, so 123 or four. But notice how each of these are methyl groups and contain three hydrogen. So therefore carbon one is equal to carbon two is equal to carbon three is equal to carbon four. Therefore we can place this bro mean on any of these carbons to achieve just one product. And so what would that look like? Well, we have our central carbon here bonded to a methyl group here on the left, we also have a methyl group on the bottom. We also have a methyl group. And on this right we have this carbon but this carbon is bonded to two hydrogen and a bromine atom. And of course a by product of this reaction would be H B R or hydrogen bromide. And this would be our final answer. I hope this helped. And until next time
