Welcome back. Let's look at our next question. Which about which of the following statements about the function of nutrients is incorrect. So we'll be looking for a false answer. Now let's recall that nutrients are materials that we obtain from the organism obtains from its environment that are essential for growth and maintenance. Um Examples are water protein, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins. So thinking of that. Let's look at our answer choices. Choice A. Says they serve as energy stores. Yes that is true. Um needed for the body as energy storage. So let's cross off choice A. As that's not an incorrect statement. Choice B says they act as building blocks for cellular structures. That is also true for proteins for example act as those building blocks. So let's eliminate Choice B. Choice C. Says they help in growth and repair. Yes. Again important function of nutrients especially like proteins. So eliminate choice C. So I just got one left choice D. They cure genetic disorders. Genetic disorders are caused by inborn errors in the genome. So nutrients coming from outside are not going to cure that error in the D. N. A. They might help with the symptoms of a genetic disorder. Or if the particular genetic disorder causes the body maybe not to synthesize something essential. Perhaps that's something you can make up by taking in that nutrient through food or as a medicine but they won't cure the genetic disorder. They won't eliminate that error in the gene in the first place. So Choice D. Is the correct answer for an incorrect statement about the function of nutrients. Thanks for watching. See you in the next video.
