Video transcript

Hello, everyone and welcome to today's video. So, where are dendritic cells found in the skin? And what is their function? As answer choice. A we have the epidermis to produce melanin and protect the skin from U V radiation B. We have the dermis to produce sweat and regulate body temperature. C we have the epidermis and dermis to capture and present antigens to T cells. D we have the hypodermis to store fat and insulate the body. Well, in order to solve this problem, let's first talk about just the main function of these dendritic cells where they're going to be a part of our body's immune system. And so they are going to be battling these pathogens and just these organisms are going to be entering our bodies in order to cause damage. Now, when these organisms or when these molecules enter our bodies, they're going to be releasing certain proteins or just certain molecules called antigens. And so the main functions of these dendritic cells in our skin is going to be to capture these pathogens that enter the skin or these antigens that enter the skin and then present it to other forms of the immune system in the body so that an immune response can be mounted. And now the only answer choice that has something like this is going to be answer choice c which states that the function is to capture and present these antigens to T cells, which are also part of our immune system. And so these dendritic cells are going to be located in the epidermis, which is our outermost layer and it's going to be in constant view of these pathogens of these antigens and their derms. And so the correct answer for this question is going to be answer choice c the epidermis and the dermis to capture and present antigens to T cells. This is the location and the function of dendritic cells in the skin. I really hope this helped you and I hope to see you on the next video.
