Hi, everybody. Let's look at our next question. Why are lymphatic vessels not referred to as lymphatic arteries? A lymphatic vessels have different structures and functions compared to arteries. B lymphatic vessels transport the oxygen, the oxygenated blood c lymphatic vessels are smaller than arteries or D lymphatic vessels do not have one-way valves. Well, on this question, it's fairly straightforward to zoom in on our correct answer, which is choice. A lymphatic vessels have different structures and functions compared to arteries. So, while the arteries transport blood, the lymphatic vessels drain interstitial fluid from the tissues and return it to the bloodstream. And they also have an immune role which is to transport immune cells and substances. So totally different function than arteries which transport blood. They also have a different structure than arteries. Uh arteries have to withstand greater pressure of the blood flowing through them. So they have thicker and more muscular walls. So since the lymphatic vessels have different structures and functions compared to arteries, that is why they are not referred to as lymphatic arteries. Let's just briefly walk through our other answer. Choices. Choice B, lymphatic vessels transport, deoxygenated blood. No, that is not correct. So we can just cross that right out. They transport the lymph do IC lymphatic vessels are smaller than arteries. Well, they are smaller than arteries. That's true. But this is not the main reason, they're not called arteries that has more to do with their, as we said, their different functions. So to ac not correct. And finally, lymphatic vessels do not have one way valves, they do have one-way valves to prevent back flow just as arteries do. So that would not be our correct answer either. So again, why are lymphatic vessels not referred to as lymphatic arteries choice? A? They have different structures and functions compared to arteries. See you in the next video.
