Video transcript

Hello everyone and welcome to today's video. So which of the following refers to the subjective perception of the intensity or amplitude of a sound wave as answer choice A we have tone B pitch C, loudness, the rhythm. Let's begin by taking a look at answer choice. A which is tone, well, tone is going to be referring to the variation in pitch that is used to distinguish words or phrases, tonal languages, but it is not the subjective perception of the intensity of a certain sound. So we're going to cancel it out. Then we have B which is pitch. Now pitch is going to be referring to a subjective perception, but it's going to be the frequency of the sound wave, not the intensity where a higher frequency is going to be perceived as a higher pitch and a lower frequency as a lower pitch. So this is how it works. However, it is not doing the intensity rather the frequencies. So we're going to cancel it out. Then we have the rhythm. Now, the rhythm in music or in singing is going to refer to the organization and pattern of certain sounds in terms of their duration and timing, not the intensity, rather the duration and timing. So we're going to cancel it out. And finally, we have, which is loudness. Now, loudness is refers to the subjective perception of the intensity or the amplitude of a sound wave. Think about when you hear a certain sound, this is going to be perceived different by different people. But if the sound is very intense, we say that it's very loud and this is exactly what this is going to be referring to. This very intense sound wave causes a very intense sound. So answer choice c loudness is going to be the final answer to our question. I really hope this video helped you and I hope to see you on the next one.
