Hey, everyone. Let's take a look at this question together which of the following statements about the ligaments is true. Is it answer choice A? They are made of adipose tissue. Answer choice B they allow the hyperextension of two connected bones. Answer choice C they provide flexibility or answer choice D they contain sensory receptors. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure out which of the following answer choices contains a statement about ligaments that is true. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about ligaments to determine if the answer choice is a true statement starting off with answer choice A which we know says that they are made of adipose tissue. Well, we can recall that ligaments are not made of adipose tissue. So answer choice A is a false statement since ligaments are composed of tough fibrous connective tissue. So answer choice A is incorrect. Next, we have answer choice B which we know says they allow the hyperextension of two connected bones, which we know that the role of ligaments is to not allow the hyper extension of two connected bones. So answer choice B is also a false statement. Since ligaments help prevent excessive movement or hyperextension. Meaning answer choice B is also incorrect. Next, we have answer choice C which we know says that they provide flexibility while we know that the role of the ligament is not to provide flexibility. So answer choice C is also a false statement and instead ligaments provide stability and not flexibility. So answer choice C is incorrect, which means that answer choice D they contain sensory receptors is the correct answer. Since answer choice D is a true statement about ligaments. Since ligaments contain the sensory receptors, which are called proprioceptors, which provide information to the nervous system where that information that is provided includes information on position, movement and tension in the ligaments and joints. So answer choice D is the correct answer. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
