Hi, everyone. Let's take a look at this question together. Which of the following effects of increased ventilation is true. Is it answer choice? A there is a decreased carbon dioxide in the blood. Answer choice. B the concentration of hydrogen ions in the blood increases. Answer choice C the ph of the blood decreases or answer choice D the blood becomes less basic. Let's work this problem out together to try to figure through which of the following answer choices best explains the effect of increased ventilation. So in order to solve this question, we have to recall what we have learned about what ventilation is and what would be the effects of increased ventilation, which we know that increased ventilation refers to an increase in the rate as well as the depth of breathing. And that increase in the rate and depth of breathing would result in more carbon dioxide being removed from the bloodstream as carbon dioxide is removed when we exhale. So that increased in ventilation would result in increased exhaling, which results in more carbon dioxide being removed from the bloodstream. So in turn, as that carbon dioxide is being removed from the bloodstream, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood would decrease. So in effect of increased ventilation is answer choice A there is a decrease of CO2 in the blood. Since that increased ventilation results in more CO2 being removed from the bloodstream. So the concentration of carbon di in the blood will decrease. And all other answer choices are incorrect. Since the concentration of hydrogen in the blood does not increase as it decreases, the ph of the blood does not decrease as it increases instead. And the blood becomes more basic and not less basic. So answer choice A is the only correct answer choice. I hope you found this video to be helpful. Thank you and goodbye.
