This webinar explores common challenges for students and instructors in the A&P lab, and shares ideas for making the most of lab time and involving students in the learning process. We will discuss how pre-lab assignments and lab assistant videos can help engage students before they walk in, and discuss hands-on activities that help students retain more information in a short lab period. Topics to be covered include: using model checklists and model images; and quick, hands-on activities to help students maximize learning.

Professor Melissa L. Greene, Northwest Mississippi Community College
Melissa L. Greene is Biology Department Chair at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS. She earned her BS degree in biology from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN and her MS in life science from the University of Maryland. Her primary research focus was neuroanatomy, which she conducted at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. With 16 years of college teaching experience, she has extensive experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology lectures and labs, Introductory Biology for non-majors, and Biology for majors both in the classroom and online. She also advises students interested in pursuing careers in biology and the health professions. She is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and the Mississippi Academy of Sciences, and serves as Vice President of the Northwest Faculty Association.
Professor Robin Robison, Northwest Mississippi Community College
Robin H. Robison has taught Anatomy and Physiology at Northwest Mississippi Community College for 29 years and has served as its Director of Science Instruction for five. He received NWCC’s 1997 Lamplighter Award for Excellence in teaching at NWCC, and was named Tate County Educator of the Year in 1998. He is currently developing and teaching Biology courses for NWCC’s eLearning department. A product of the community college system, he received his AA degree in biology from Northeast Mississippi Community College before earning BA and MS degrees in Biology from the University of Mississippi. He is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society.
