British Army announced as number one apprenticeship employer for 2020
by
On Wednesday 21 October, it was announced that the Army has been awarded number 1 spot in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2020.
The Top 100 is a new national ranking of the leading employers of apprentices, recognising the top employers who are helping to lead an 'apprenticeship revolution' and getting more people into skilled jobs.
The Top 100 celebrates England’s outstanding apprenticeship employers by acknowledging their overall commitment to employing apprentices, their creation of new apprenticeships, the diversity of their new apprentices, and the progression of their apprentices onto further apprenticeships and employment.
In 2019-20, the Army supported more than 8,000 apprentices to gain new knowledge and skills, with almost 20% of its personnel currently undertaking apprenticeship programmes as part of their military training; an impressive commitment to apprenticeships that helped them to achieve the top spot.
The new rankings have been developed by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with High Fliers Research, who independently assessed and compiled the new national leader board.

Although the Army making number 1 is an acknowledgement of their approach to apprenticeships, as a service provider to Army Apprenticeships, we take great pride in this achievement as it is also a reflection on all the huge efforts every member of Pearson TQ staff puts in to ensuring that the Apprenticeship programmes offered are the best that they can be.
Following the announcement, a senior Army Officer who leads on Army Apprenticeship contracts sent this message to Pearson TQ:
“The Army has made number 1 in the top 100 Apprenticeship Employers which is great news indeed. The Apprenticeship programme is fundamental to the Army offer and your support to the programme is essential to the Army’s success and fully recognised, especially in this difficult environment of Covid-19 and all the constraints and restrictions it has imposed on the programme that you have all worked hard to overcome and maintain delivery. I do hope you can all share and enjoy the good news.”
