First Aid CPR and AED

Overview

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

All learners will have the skills and knowledge to use the AED competently and with confidence, as well as important training in resuscitation and choking procedures.

 

Learning outcomes

The course programme covers:

  • Responsibilities and reporting 
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty 
  • Assessment of the situation 
  • Paediatric defibrillation 
  • Defibrillation procedures 
  • Resuscitation 
  • Choking 
  • Heart attacks 
  • AED safety and functions 
  • Infection control.

 

Assessment

Practical and oral assessment is on-going by the instructor, culminating with a written multiple-choice test.

Certification

NUCO Certificate. This qualification lasts for 3 years.
