Project Qualification Express

Why study an FPQ, HPQ or EPQ?

Give your Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 learners a meaningful end to their studies by offering one of our new Project Qualification Express options.

Year 10 and 11 learners can carry out a Pearson Foundation Project Qualification (FPQ) or Higher (HPQ) Express. Year 12 and 13 learners can carry out an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) Express.

These can be achieved in a focused period of time, so that all learners can:

  • demonstrate their ability to build on their knowledge and understanding of KS4- or KS5-level content, and/or do a deep dive into an interest area
  • use exam revision time to develop skills for future learning or the world of work
  • have a meaningful end to their studies – using the assessment opportunity in January or June 2021 series, or simply using project work as a chance to develop new skills and continue learning

How do you ‘Express’ an FPQ, HPQ or EPQ?  

Our Project Qualification (PQ) Express is a fast-track project qualification - the specification and assessment criteria remain unchanged. Learners are expected to fulfil the same amount of guided-learning hours in a shorter timeframe (3-6 months).

During COVID-19 lockdown, it gave learners a focused remote-learning experience and a meaningful end to their studies in an unsettling time. For Year 11s and Year 13s, it was a great way to use the time they would normally set aside for exam revision.

A school's experience

We caught up with the tutors and students at TLC Private School who shared their experiences of our EPQ Express, and how they used the qualification to develop skills and passions during the summer of 2020.

The EPQ undoubtedly prepares students for the next stage of their educational journey, and introduces them to the skills needed in later life.

It is incredibly rewarding to see how proud the students are at the end of that learning journey when they have created a product or artefact that really connects with their identity.
