Accurate and reliable

Backed by Pearson’s leading artificial intelligence scoring technology, the Benchmark Test offers a choice of levels to support all students: A, B1, B2 or C.

As long as the test participants have a computer, headset and Internet connection, the test can be taken at any location.

What is tested?

The Benchmark Test assesses Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. It returns clear, at-a-glance visual and numerical data for individuals and groups of students, as well as more a detailed breakdown of ability for each skill. Students are presented with a wide range of question types, giving them the chance to demonstrate their skills in different ways. The questions target individual and integrated skills.

Grading

The Benchmark Test is completed in approximately 45 minutes. The test is then scored using advanced AI technology, and a score report is available on Test Hub.

Special in Benchmark

The score report also includes tailored study guidance for each student, and recommendations for teachers on how to focus their classes. 

Teachers will be able to view helpful activities in Perason courses to aid lesson planning and they will be provided with recommendation and suggested learning objectives.

The Benchmark Test works alongside the Pearson English Level Test to first place students, and then track their learning progress in detail.

Both tests are administered through a state‑of-the-art portal that not only allows you tomanage tests and the results, but through its smart tagging system, also allows you the flexibility to measure student performance throughout the learning journey.

GSE

The Level Test scores are based on the Pearson Global Scale of English (GSE) as well as the CEFR, meaning that progress can be measured in small increments within each level.
