How to teach flexibly using our material?

Course material

All our courses are available as printed books, and most are also available as online e-texts.

Each course is supported by a presentation tool such as Active Teach - a digital, interactive version of the coursebook. Active Teach is for teachers and available on a disc or online. You can use Active Teach to project content onto a whiteboard in class, but if you are teaching remotely, you can also project it using conference call technology such as Zoom or Google Hangouts. This allows you to give your students a true-to-life, engaging lesson experience while they are studying at home.

Study and practice material

Each coursebook is supplemented by MyEnglishLab, an interactive, online workbook and self-study tool. You can use MyEnglishLab to set up classes and assign exercises to your students. The exercises are graded automatically, plus you receive a helpful analysis of your students’ engagement and progress.

MyEnglishLab should be used in combination with a coursebook, as each lesson in our coursebooks has corresponding practice on MyEnglishLab.

How does it work?

The Flipped Classroom

In order to make your lessons more engaging and provide a more student-centred learning environment, you can incorporate the flipped classroom model into your in-class or remote teaching.

Flipped Classroom

Students - learn basic lessons on new subject matter individually at home and come to class prepared.

Teacher – sets exercises and goes over other reinforcement material in the classroom.

Traditional Classroom

Teacher - teaches basic lessons on new subject matter.

Students - do exercises and other homework independently at home.

Advantages

As the preparation is done beforehand, flipped learning frees up lesson time for using language, not learning about language.
The flipped approach allows students to follow their own learning styles, making learning more relaxed and enjoyable. Students work at their own pace, using a range of material to prepare more effectively for in-class activities. Consequently, some students progress more quickly.
The flipped approach encourages autonomous learning and supports an independent learning culture.
The flipped model allows for more student-centred learning.

Good course material for the flipped classroom includes:

Material for the flipped classroom

Many Pearson courses include online components in MyEnglishLab, and we also provide customized material in form of flexibility packs to facilitate the flipped approach. All courses have audio and video material that can be shared with students, and grammar rules are explained in each coursebook. Although not all activities in the communicative classroom can and should be flipped, Pearson courses provide enough flexibility to apply both the traditional and the flipped teaching approach.

Example: Flipping with online content

Out of class: the students work on simple grammatical content using the Grammar Pack online code, for example, and they complete online exercises. The teacher analyses the feedback using the MyLab system.
In class: the teacher addresses tricky issues during the lesson.
In class: the teacher continues the lesson, presenting material that incorporates the grammatical content in a text or other activity.

Example: Flipping with a reading text

Out of class: the students read a text, for example about moving to a foreign country, and prepare vocabulary at home.
In class: the teacher quizzes them on vocabulary from the text.
In class: the teacher touches on new grammar points, and teacher and students discuss the pros and cons of living in a foreign country.
In class/out of class follow-up: for example, students prepare a survival kit for moving to the Netherlands.

They’re designed to help you meet the challenges that come with teaching mixed-level classes and having limited contact with your students.

All of the packs are delivered online through the MyEnglishLab platform, which automatically corrects students’ work after completion. Not only does this encourage independent study, but it also helps you to cover the core curriculum during lessons.

Best-Practice packs

A large selection of our coursebooks are now available as Best-Practice packs for students. Each pack contains the coursebook of your choice, online workbook on MyEnglishLab plus an online code for self-study. This code gives your students access to thousands of additional grammar exercises at all three levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced. Depending on the students’ needs, they can pick and choose the exercises that suit them best, either by doing remedial exercises or by extending their knowledge.

The Best-Practice Pack contains 138,45 euros worth of products at the price of **59.95 euros** plus VAT. The code is valid for 36 months.

The Grammar Pack

The Grammar Pack is a good solution for teachers who are looking for grammar practice as the core study material or as a supplementary grammar practice for students who are not using Pearson coursebooks. The pack covers all three levels of MyGrammarLab practice, giving students access to multiple grammar exercises. Depending on their needs, students can pick and choose the exercises that suit them best, either by doing remedial exercises or by extending their knowledge.

The Grammar Pack contains 76,65 euros worth of products at the price of **49,50 euros** plus VAT. The code is valid for **36 months**.

The Interactive Pack

The Interactive Pack covers all four levels (from A1 to B2) of Pearson English Interactive 2.0, offered as one login code for each student. This 100% digital course consists of 60 stand-alone, communicative lessons. The fully interactive lessons can be used to supplement your core teaching material or as an independent study option for your students. The course includes structured self-assessments and a placement test.

The course is delivered via MyEnglishLab, allowing you to manage your students, set assignments and keep an eye on their progress.

The Interactive Pack contains 116 euros worth of products at the price of **59.95** **euros** plus VAT. The code is valid for 36 months.
