Hallmark features of this title

  • Practice connections at the beginning of each unit facilitate the integration of competencies and practice behaviors. Discussion questions and actions show students how they can use the material in their practicum.
  • Practice applications throughout each chapter include discussion questions, role-plays and exercises that will help stimulate critical thinking, discussion, and application of the concepts covered.
  • Illustrative case scenarios following 6 fictitious students make the content more relatable and allow students to apply their knowledge, skills, and values to issues presented in the text. A new case, Amina, highlights potential LGBTQ student issues.
  • Teaching and learning resources include updated companion readings that are linked to key concepts in each chapter; a bank of exam questions (both objective and open-ended); and sample syllabi aligned to the 2015 Council on Social Work Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS).
