This module will introduce the trainee to the weatherization initiative and its underlying motivation by examining the economic and environmental effects of the inefficient use of energy in heating and cooling buildings. The module will describe the common ways in which heat is lost and how cold air infiltrates a house.  It will introduce remediation methods such as air sealing and insulation as a lead-in to subsequent modules. The module will also explore career opportunities in the weatherization industry.
