A wholistic, contextualized approach to understanding the legal issues that affect businesses

Business Law: A Storytelling Approach takes a compelling look at why the law is important and how it fits into the context of business. Using scenario-based examples, the text examines the legal needs of actual companies throughout their life cycles. Seeing concepts in action provides context and prepares students for the types of legal concerns they'll experience in their professional lives.

This 1st Edition profiles recent and relevant judicial cases. It also includes a multitude of opportunities for practice, so students are prepared for future career success.

Hallmark features of this title

  • 7 units cover the entire life cycle of a business, from start-up through bankruptcy. A fictional company, TIP Technologies, is used throughout the text to familiarize students with how the firm operates, its key players, and how it's affected by the law.
  • Concept Check assessments appear after each section in multiple-choice format. Students get numerous tries at each question and receive feedback.
  • End-of-chapter Post-Quizzes contain 10 conceptual and scenario-based multiple-choice questions.
  • Chapter-opening TIP Tech scenarios set the stage for the material to follow. Examples extend the scenarios to clarify chapter topics.
  • Video Cases bring actual court decisions to life. They encourage students to retain the important points illustrated by a judicial decision.

New and updated features of this title

  • An overview of 2 additional relevant judicial cases in a guided format focuses students on the pertinent facts, the key question the court considered, and the ruling.
  • Focus on Ethics cases expose students to a variety of ethical challenges in business settings.
  • Critical-Thinking Activities and Questions provide multiple opportunities for practice.
  • Mini-Sim exercises put students in professional roles and give them the opportunity to apply legal concepts and develop decision-making skills through real-world business challenges.
