Pearson Inclusive Access delivers the required learning materials for your course on the first day of class, at a substantial discount off the price of traditional print materials. Pearson is focused on equity, student success and driving down the overall cost of a degree.
With eTextbooks, available in Pearson+, students will have affordable, anytime/anywhere access to high-quality digital course materials by the first day of class. This model simplifies the purchasing process for your students.
Students get instant access to the eTextbook with upgraded features, including an easy-to-use interface, enhanced search, notes and highlights, flashcards, audio and offline access via the mobile app.
eTextbooks, available in Pearson+, give your students an additional affordable option to access their text in a digital format, through an enhanced experience.
Yes, as a distribution model, Inclusive Access gives you the freedom to continue using your print selections in a digital format.
From the time an Inclusive Access model is chosen, the Pearson team collaborates with institutions to understand their needs and create a plan to support those priorities. When the institution is ready to launch Inclusive Access, the Pearson team helps you connect to your digital materials, get set up prior to the first day of the term and learn how to use the materials effectively in your classroom.
Students will access the eTextbook from the institution’s Learning Management System and will not be required to enter an access code. No codes means fewer questions and a smoother first day for students.
Your students will have access to the eTextbook for 180 days starting from the Course Start date, unless the student has opted out before the census date.
Channels videos cover various courses and topics, including biology, chemistry, math and business. Channels will continue to grow in course and topical coverage.
Channels is designed to give students access to resources that can help them learn difficult concepts and dive deeper into key course topics. With thousands of practice problems in MyLab and Mastering, there’s a chance that some content could be repeated in a Channels assessment item.
We’ll use administrative and moderation tools to monitor engagement and summarize the data to help us understand how students are using Channels content. To respect privacy, the data we gather will not include students’ names. At this time, the sharing of learning insights with faculty is not available.
You can access Channels in several ways:
With a Channels subscription
With a subscription to MyLab and Mastering with eTextbook. Users can access their Pearson eTextbook from within a course and enter the Pearson+ environment, which includes Channels.
If you need access to additional eTextbooks, contact your Pearson representative to request a complimentary digital desk copy, or you can request one here.
We have implemented a social learning experience within the eTextbook, shown as posts. Students will be able to view who else is studying using that eTextbook, ask questions and start discussions with fellow students. The social layer will be an interactive, collaborative and dynamic learning experience.
The social experience will work across faculties and schools around the globe. All students and faculty members that use an eTextbook title will be able to see the social experience. The experience is not limited to students in a certain class at a specific university.
What’s coming next:
- Students will be able to share notes, summaries and flashcards
The social experience will be monitored and moderated by a subject matter expert. Every post, comment and link will be reviewed, verified and approved before being published on the platform. We’ve created community guidelines that everyone needs to follow. Any violations may lead to content getting removed and/or access getting terminated.
Read the community guidelines
Research studies show that interacting socially and sharing work with peers can significantly improve higher education learning outcomes, and online learning can support the benefits we see from social collaboration.
Additional study material on top of the eTextbook is the top user request coming from our user research. Students are asking for ways to discuss problems and concepts while they are learning and review other students’ ideas and solutions.
In interviews instructors have mentioned the positives of students having a community to allow open discussions and to encourage students’ engagement with content.
We’ll monitor the engagement and the benefits this new feature creates, then we plan to scale this up and add more titles.
Go to the product page on the Pearson website for the title you’re interested in. There will be a badge on the Pearson+ title when this feature is available.
If you have access to the eTextbook titles via Mastering or MyLab you will have the same experience as your students while accessing the title. Also, you can access it via Pearson+ if the title has been sampled to you.
