Cathy Snyder, Business Professor, James Madison University
Dr. Snyder is a long-time faculty member at JMU, serving over 26 years in the College of Business Marketing and Hospitality departments as well as teaching within the General Education programming for the university. Her current course content focuses exclusively on Personal Finance, that emphasis born out of both student demand and Cathy's personal research interests surrounding financial literacy and wellness, first-generation student success, and access/affordability issues in higher education.
Cathy's passion for student success extends well beyond class content. She strives to instill life skills so her students can launch into meaningful and productive lives with both the competence and confidence to remain independent.
Her prior work experience includes time spent as a Loan Officer and Marketing Program Manager for a local community bank as well as a Corporate Pricing Analyst for RR Donnelly & Sons. Both positions offer added value via real-world applications for the classroom setting.
Outside of academia, Cathy serves as Vice-President of a family-sponsored non-profit designed to support a college scholarship endowment and domestic violence awareness.
