Afsaneh Nahvandi, PhD

Dr. Afsaneh Nahavandi is professor of Management at the Knauss School of Business at the University of San Diego, and Professor Emerita at Arizona State University. She is the founder and principal investigator of the Cultural Mindset Project and the Individual Cultural Mindset Inventory, and a highly regarded authority in leadership, culture, leadership development, and organizational behavior.
She has a BA in Psychology and French from the University of Denver, an MA and PhD in Social Psychology from University of Utah. Prior to coming to USD in 2013, she taught at Arizona State University for 26 years in the Business School and in the School of Public Administration. While at ASU she was director of the MBA program at ASU's West campus, director of University College, associate dean of University College and of the College of Public Programs. Most recently, she was Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego. She was ASU's 2004 Professor of the Year and she is additionally the winner of several other teaching awards. Prior to joining ASU, she was an assistant professor of Human Resources Management at Northeastern University in Boston.
